The Bethel Journals
Created by Donald G. Bennett (a former president of the Bethel Historical Society), The Bethel Journals (thebetheljournals.info), is a web site focusing on the development of Bethel and surrounding communities from 1886 onwards. (Note that while there is no search function built into the site, selected articles have been indexed on our website, and the website can also be searched using a Google Custom Search.)
Oxford County Registry of Deeds
With thousands of records freely searchable online, the Oxford County Registry of Deeds websites are a great place to begin your research into a historic home or property. The Western District (oxfordcounty.org/deeds-west.php) covers Stoneham, Stow, Sweden, Lovell, Fryeburg, Brownfield, Denmark, Porter and Hiram. The Eastern Distict (oxfordcounty.org/deeds-east.php) covers all other Oxford County towns, including Bethel.

It is one of the best websites to search for family records, as well as to meet fellow researchers working on the same lines.

With billions of records, ancestry.com is one of the largest genealogy websites in the world. Through our affiliation with the Maine State Library, we are able to provide free access through ancestrylibrary.com to researchers at our facility.

FamilySearch (familysearch.com) is the largest genealogy organization in the world. Better still, registering an account is completely free!
